Recently Pastor Prince was teaching about the High Priest's job. He said Jesus came to earth as a prophet with a message from God, but after He fulfilled His mission on the cross, He went into Heaven and became our High Priest and He has been in that position for 2000 years.

He said the High Priest of the temple would go to God on the people's behalf and offer the sacrifice for them. On his head the High Priest was commanded to always wear a gold band on his turban that said "Holiness to the Lord." It represented cleansing of the thoughts of the people.

Pastor Prince said that our thoughts are never clean enough, and if it was up to God looking at us, we would never be acceptable in His sight, but because Jesus' thoughts are ALWAYS pure and good, perfect and never negative or falling short, and God looks at HIS thoughts as our High Priest, we are ALWAYS accepted by God. Praise the Lord!

I had a relative here in the house as the show was playing. She didn't understand why Pastor Prince wasn’t taking time to instruct the people to repent first and was actually offended at what he was saying.

He was not “leaving out” the importance of a repentant heart, he was using his 30 minute TV show to instruct the people in what Jesus is doing for us, and to focus our attention on HIM, not on whipping up on ourselves thinking over our sins. NO!!!! To do that means we will remain stuck in a pre-forgiveness belief, and always fail to live up to the role God has in mind for us.

The Holy Spirit convicts our hearts of sin when there is any and we are to just deal with it quickly and move on. If it's something bad, make amends, if it's just a bad thought, kick it out! But if you forget to deal with it, God is NOT going to punish you! We couldn't possibly deal with every bad thought we have, or bad attitude problem. There are thousands each day. That's why it's so important to know that Jesus went to the cross ONCE and for all, for ALL of the sins we'll ever commit, so that we can go on forward and LIVE as He wishes us to live.

We don't worry that we'll become full of sins if we are not constantly repenting, because we know the Holy Spirit is at work in our hearts cleansing us constantly and He WILL bring whatever is important into our minds to be dealt with when necessary.

If our days are filled with self-condemnation, we'll always struggle and be behind. God said we are to be the head not the tail! We are victorious! Because HE overcame!

I do not mean we don't repent or fix our mistakes. We have to take care of the consequences, and there will always BE consequences to sin, but we don't focus our minds on our sins, but on Jesus' faultless victory and holiness. When we do this, we act more like Jesus, becoming more like Him as a natural leading, rather than trying to force ourselves to be good out of fear of the law.

We have freedom, liberty in Christ, total forgiveness forever. If we could affect or change our status with God, we'd be doomed, because we'd always mess it up. God took that out of our hands and made allowance and provision for every shortcoming of man.

HE came to die for us, because He knew we couldn't do that right either. It had to be a perfect lamb, an innocent. HE went into Heaven to speak for us as our High Priest, because we can't be perfect. HE gave us the measure of Faith and increased it by allowing us to use Jesus' faith and perfection as our marker.

Nothing at all is dependent on us except to ACCEPT Jesus as our sacrifice and believe that it was good enough and forever!

Our Lord is a beautiful and mighty High Priest who loves us, and His mercy endures through every generation of believers!
