Look at this next scripture.
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed."
Isaiah 53:5
This scripture holds so many blessings and gifts from God, yet you've probably never read it before.
It tells us:
1. His wounds wiped out our transgressions,
2. His bruises cover our iniquities,
3. The turmoil, hate and violence of his treatment brought forth our peace,
4. The beating with a barbed whip on his back worked our healing.
Dig a little deeper, beloved, understand that these words also hold freedom. Do you know what iniquity means? It's a word for a specific type of sin, the kind that is passed down from Adam in all of mankind, inherent in us, and very difficult to overcome. It covers your sins of passion, pleasure and addictions. It is your sexual sins, your drug and alcohol addictions, it's for all those things that you promise you'll never do again, yet find yourself going right back to.
This verse, when used as a weapon against Satan and circumstance in your life, will bring you out of your addictions. It will give you peace when your life is turned upside down, and it will assure your healing when you stand on this scripture in faith, believing that Jesus is as good as His word. God's promised all these things to you, and He's holding them out in His hands for you to take.
How it must hurt Him when after all that He's suffered to bring this about for us, the enemy has confused us so that we don't understand the gift that is already ours!
So what is it that we must do to be saved, and to know that all these wonderful verses apply to US?
1. Know and admit that we are all sinners, in a fallen state, and repent of all known sin in our lives. (Repenting means turning completely away from it, to the best of your ability at the moment.)
2. Believe that Jesus is the Son of God, the only savior for all of mankind, and that He died for you and me, personally - so that we could live if we will follow Him. (We must believe that He IS the Son and the payment for our personal sin, and believe ON Him, obeying His commandments.)
3. We must confess to others that we believe on Jesus.
(Jesus said whoever confesses Him before men, He would confess before His Father in Heaven. Substitute the word "claim" for confess. If you claim Jesus, He'll claim You!)
4. Be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of your sins. (Baptismo means full immersion, not just sprinkling. Also, you must be of sufficient age to understand who you are promising to follow. Baptism signifies you follow Jesus down into the grave and rise again a new creature in Christ.)
